The Process Sourcing Analysis Four Quadrant Model is a tool for companies to evaluate which processes they should source, based on their level of strategic importance to the company and the level of proprietary information involved. Each relevant training process from the Training Process Framework is rated on scale from 1 to 10 for each level, with 1 being the least relevant and 10 being the most relevant. The ratings determine which quadrant a process belongs in, and learning leaders then use the ratings to decide how to source people and manage processes.
Each quadrant is defined below:
Quadrant 1: High strategic importance and high proprietary significance.
Quadrant 2: High strategic importance and low proprietary significance.
Quadrant 3: Low strategic importance and high proprietary significance.
Quadrant 4: Low strategic importance and low proprietary significance.
Companies should use the Process Sourcing Analysis Model when they are planning to outsource processes to one or more suppliers. This model allows buyers to understand which of their processes they should source and which they should manage internally. In addition, the model can help learning leaders evaluate each of the processes in their organization and determine which may give them a competitive advantage in the industry.
